Lead Singer of Rusted Root

Website: www.MichaelGlabicki.com

Rusted Root, the multi-platinum sextet out of Pittsburgh, evolved around front-man Michael Glabicki’s distinct sound and grew into a musical entity that has thrived in a non-genre specific category all its own. Rusted Root built their career around dramatic performances; their polyrhythmic, multicultural rock-and-soul picked up fans like a junkyard magnet as they swept across the nation on tour.

Now, over a decade into a career with Rusted Root, Michael is ready to explore roads less traveled. What began as an opening act for Rusted Root shows, Michael’s solo tunes are beginning a new life completely independent from the successful jam band.

Jazz, Blues, Urban Folk
Daughter of Harry Chapin

Website: www.JenChapin.com

Jen Chapin’s music is urban folk — story songs that search for community and shared meaning, powered by the funk, soul and improvisation of the city. Critics have hailed her work as “brilliant.. soulfully poetic” (NPR), “thoughtful.. worth-savoring” (People), “addictive” (Boston Globe), “smart, observant, lyrically deft, politically aware and emotionally intuitive” (Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel). JazzTimes has called her “a first-rate storyteller” while Relix regards her as “one of the freshest voices singing today." She has been featured on “Late Nite with Conan O’Brien,” honored by the USA Songwriting Competition, appeared on stage with Bruce Springsteen, and opened up for Bruce Hornsby and the Neville Brothers.

Her performances are powerful, spotlighting the world-class musicianship and rare chemistry of husband/acoustic bassist Stephan Crump and guitarist Jamie Fox. As an activist, educator and mother, Jen also brings the knowledge and insight of varied experience (student/traveler in Mexico and Zimbabwe, BA in International Relations, longtime Member, Chair and Secretary of the Board of WHY) to her workshops and presentations to college, community and church groups.

She's toured the country extensively, having appeared with such artists as Rob Thomas, Jewel, James Blunt, Gavin DeGraw, and on one memorable evening, Prince. Toby’s national TV performances include the Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, NBC's Today Show, and CBS' Second Cup, among many others. She can currently be heard singing the theme song for NASCAR on Fox broadcasts.

Toby's title track “Let Go” recently appeared on ABC's Brothers and Sisters as well as Dirty, Sexy, Money.  "Let Go" can also be heard during the extensive Home Shopping Network TV/Radio campaign. "Outstanding Pop/R&B Music Act" (2008 Boston Music Awards)
JADA's Single "American Cowboy" produced by RedOne/Akon
Website: www.JadaMusic.com

Four extraordinary singers united by a common goal, "JADA" is the latest iteration of the classic female vocal group signed to Universal Motown Records. Their self-titled debut marks the culmination of a remarkable journey. From the album-opening ballad “Is It Love” to the sassy RedOne/Akon-produced first single, “American Cowboy,” “JADA” is a bright and brazen mix of pop, soul, dance, and R&B, spiced by Jada’s characteristic gospel-inspired harmonies. The powerhouse sound is not dissimilar from the girls themselves – soulful and sophisticated, sexy and strong, heartfelt and honest, flirty and fun. The tightly knit harmonies aren’t just something the four singers break out when the microphones are turned on. United by fate, the girls of Jada have formed a bond that’s closer to a family than a pop group.

"Music for falling in love in snowy weather." - The Deli

Website: www.myspace.com/greatelk

Great Elk's music is both disturbing and comforting, like meeting someone for the first time and discovering they know everyone you've ever loved. Their sound is the result of years of collaboration between primary songwriter Paul Basile, a New York native, and guitarist Patrick Hay, a Virginia transplant. Basile’s visceral, world-weary vocals and the lonesome wails of Hay’s guitar coalesce into a sound that is sometimes soothing, sometimes clamorous, but always engaging.

The band's self-titled, self-released debut EP, on sale June 22, 2010, at times recalls the sparse and haunting feel of Basile's solo record, Skeletons (2006), which was written and recorded during his 4-year stint as a sled-dog handler in rural Alaska. But on this set of recordings, joined by Hay and a top-notch rhythm section featuring Adam Christgau (Jenny Owen Youngs,Gregory and The Hawk) on percussion and Jon Estes (Rosewood Thieves) on bass, the songs trade some of their intimacy for lush and powerful arrangements.  Basile's gravelly vocals are driven to their natural edge and Great Elk is pushed away from its indie-folk roots into uncharted territory.
